Blazhko Ensemble is; Katrien Kolenberg (Cello) Frederik Van de Moortel (Hybrid bass and electronics) and Marc Horemans (Graphic score)
‘The Blazhko veil’ is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration between Marc Horemans, Katrien Kolenberg, Frederik Van de Moortel and Ehsan Moravveji. They were inspired by astronomical research, more specifically by the registered data of the RR Lyrae variable stars. The scientists and the artists directed their attention towards the Blazhko effect of these data. Up until this day the effect can be understood as a primary form of disruption and chaos. Perhaps a better understanding of our existence is hidden in the effect. The close collaboration between artists and scientists led to a scientifically oriented audiovisual installation. The three entities; science, image and sound confronted each other and resulted in a sensory contribution to the astronomical discourse. The interrelated media or practices blur the lines between the factual and the longed for because if one intends to measure themselves against the cosmos, one appeals to reason and to intuition, to the factual and to the fictional, to the objective and the subjective.

Het is niet de eerste keer dat jazztrompettist Bert Joris samen met deFilharmonie op het podium staat, en telkens is het weerzien even hartelijk. Dit keer brengt hij de Zuid-Afrikaanse jazzvocaliste Tutu Puoane mee en is heel Antwerpen uitgenodigd, want samen bouwen ze een feestje tijdens het jaarlijkse openluchtconcert. Verder is het Sint-Jansplein the place to be voor wie een voorproefje van het concertseizoen van deFilharmonie wel kan smaken. U aangeboden door het huis, gratis en voor niks!
Op de front dit keer een Digidesign Dshow met twee sidecars. zeer anders dan de Midas XL8 van vorig jaar, maar zeker heel fijn werken.

Het statige Paleis voor Schone Kunsten verandert traditiegetrouw minstens één keer per jaar in een hippe, hedendaagse danstempel. Liefhebbers van elektronische muziek kijken dan ook al lang uit naar het nieuwe editie van het BOZAR ELECTRONIC WEEKEND op 28 en 29 oktober 2011.
Dit tweedaags gebeuren biedt een staalkaart van de allerbeste elektronische muziek en aanverwante fenomenen, met live concerten, soundscapes, audiovisuals en nog veel meer. Het programma omvat zowat alle actuele stijlen, van lokale projecten (Kaboom Karavan, Brussels Up! Soundsystem, Ictus, Vlek Records) tot in het wereldje ronkende internationale kleppers (Modeselektor, Plaid, Rustie), van donkere, industriële geluiden (Eleven Tigers, Clubroot) tot hedendaags minimalisme (Nils Frahm, Balmorhea).
